Vincent J. Nardacci

North Providence

Vincent J. Nardacci, 72, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Bell) Nardacci.

Born in Providence, he was the son of Mary (Marchetti) Nardacci and the late Nicholas Nardacci.

Vincent taught Social Studies in the Providence School System for 28 years, retiring in 1992. He graduated from LaSalle Academy and Providence College, and received a Master’s Degree from Rhode Island College. He was a past member of the Carew Concert Choir, St. Augustine’s Choir in Providence, and St. Ann’s Choir in Woonsocket. He was a member of the RI Chess Federation, and was instrumental in running chess tournaments at Rhode Island College. He was a member of the Rhode Island National Guard 88th Army Band. He was a past member of the Providence Federation of Musicians, Local 198, AFOM, playing the clarinet and saxophone.

Besides his wife, and mother, Vincent leaves his loving children, Debra Gerhard and her husband Jonathan, of North Providence, and Steven Nardacci and his wife Thni, of Providence. He was the beloved grandfather of Aiko, Samuel, and Gabriel. He was brother to Nicholas Nardacci and his wife Martha of North Scituate, and uncle to Nicholas Nardacci and Lori Ann Nardacci.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 31, at 8:45 am, from RUSSELL J. BOYLE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 331 Smith Street, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Saint Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. CALLING HOURS are Monday, July 30, from 4 to 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to St. Thomas School, 15 Edendale Avenue, Providence, RI 02911 or St. Pius V School, 49 Elmhurst Avenue, Providence, RI 02908.
