K. Katherine Cibor, 86, of North Providence, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Hopkins Manor, in North Providence.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Frances (Mruk) Cibor.
Kay was the first female Sergeant appointed on the Providence Police Department, where she served for 32 years. She entered the department in December 1951, and retired May of 1986. She was a member of the Providence Police Association, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 3, and the retired Providence and Firefighters Association.
She leaves several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late, Blanche C. Brown, Elizabeth A. Pettella, and Ann E. Cibor. She also leaves her dear friend, Arlene Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 10:00 am, in Saint Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, to which relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be respectfully omitted. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
