Catherine Ann Ryan

Providence

Catherine A. Ryan, 82, formerly of Seamans Street, Providence, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. She was the wife of the late Vincent A. Ryan.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Emily (Fanning) Finni.

Mrs. Ryan was a disability determination officer for the State of Rhode Island, Department of Human Services, for 20 years before retiring. After retiring, Catherine was a medical librarian at the Roger Williams Medical Center for several years, and was the librarian at Blessed Sacrament School. Mrs. Ryan was also a lector, and lay minister at Saint Edward Church, and a teacher at the former Saint Edward School.

She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, and Rhode Island College, and later earned her Masters Degree in Education from Rhode Island College and her Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island.

Catherine leaves a daughter, Donna J. DiLullo and her husband Bernard DiLullo, Ed.D; four sons, Allan V. Ryan, Daniel J. Ryan, and his wife Patricia, Robert Ryan, Esq., and his wife Sandra, Thomas J. Ryan, Esq., and his wife Jo-Ann; eight loving grandchildren, Joseph, Katlyne, Elizabeth, Brendan, Megan, Christian, Paloma and Preston; a loving step-granddaughter Carissa Wilkinson and her son Cameron.

She was predeceased by her cherished friends Anne Carson and William O. Pellitier.

The funeral will be held Monday, at 9:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours Sunday, 3 – 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Edward Food & Wellness Center, 1001 Branch Avenue, Providence, RI 02904 in her memory will be appreciated.
